Generation of Computer
Computer generation are classified into five part-
(a) 1st Generation Computer – In this computer generation vacuum tubes and thermionic value are used as a component. ENIAC (Electric Numerical Integration And Calculator) are introduced in this generation. It calculate 800 numbers in one second, 1800 vacuum tubes are used in this computer. So, it is a very big size like 3-bedroom size, Due to vacuum tubes it produce so much heat. So, it frequently shut to cool off.
(b) 2nd Generation Computer – In this computer generation vacuum tubes and thermionic values are replaced with transistors. It size is decreased and speed is increased than 1stgeneration computer. But it is not in portable size.
(c) 3rd Generation Computer –In this computer generation transistors are replaced with a small semi-conductor chip Integrated circuit. i.e. (IC) which is made up of silicon and S.S.I.C. (Small Scale Integrated Circuit). Its size it become decreased and speed is increased than 2nd generation computer. It is a portable size.
(d) 4th Generation Computer – In this computer generation I.C. and S.S.I.C. are replaced with L.S.I.C. (Large Scale Integrated Circuit) and V.L.S.I.C. (Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit). It is also called Microprocessor. It size decreased and speed increased than 3rdgeneration computer.
(e) 5th Generation Computer – It is also called artificial intelligence. The self dependent Robot is the best example of the 5th generation computer.
